Week #2

Knowing the fundamentals

Although the whole course seemed to me difficult to understand at first, but as time goes on, I get more and more interested and understand what is going on. In this week, Erkki declared four main concepts in doing a research: Problem, Purpose, Design and Limitations, which each step leads to the next one.

Problem is the first thing that introduced in the beginning of an actual research. Problem statement should be clear in detail, so after years, everyone else could be able to understand, why this research has been done and what problem is addresses.

Purpose, is what researchers should be able to clarify. They should understand the problem completely, divide the problem into sub-problems, if needed, and of course know exactly what should the expect from results of the research.

Design should be well-formed, which both researchers and readers, feel aware of the content. The content should include Questions, Methods and Limitations. Afterward, Errki talked about kind of different questions included in the research and also in the following sessions (week #3), there ill be more discussions and presentations about research methods.
